Life can be messy. It can be as messy as your linen cupboard, your sideboard or your storage room. The more cluttered our outside world is the more cluttered is also our mind.
Let's begin to tidy up your outside world.
The Wheel of Life
Whenever I work with a client I find out what their three most challenges currently are. By doing that I work through the eight different areas of their live and ask the customer what this specific area, on a scale from 1 to 10 looks like. The areas we look at are family/friends, career, finances, recreation, romance, health, sports/exercising, and spirituality.
The Wheel of life is an important in evaluating what areas of your life are in imbalance and where you spend most of your energy.
It focuses on self-reflection and by doing this exercise you gain clarity on the areas that needs a "tidying up". By doing this you free up vital energy and learn to focus on what needs to be cleared up.
So, let's check in.
The wheel of life exercise helps you to gain clarity as to what area of your life is blocked and keeps you probably awake at night thinking about how you can solve the problem.
This seems to be a huge issue with most of us. Invoice arrive unexpectedly but you have no savings in your bank. Create a finance sheet of your income, regular outgoings and determine how much money you have left in your bank account that you can save and spend.
This is a very important area. To be in love is the one aspect in life that should not be forgotten. For many years I thought that having a great job, socialising with my friends is sufficient to be happy. But ten years later I was made redundant from my job. That was the moment when I noticed that just having a great job and having friends is not enough. Even if you have been disappointed or hurt don't give up hope in finding a loving partner. The advice that may help is to take dating more lightly. Just dating without thinking where this situation may be going is not necessarily important to begin with. Have fun being in love and let time decide what happens next.
All three areas are linked with each other. Have a look at your current diet. Do you consume more healthy foods or do you walk to the fast food shop too often. On a scale of 1 to 10 how healthy do you think you are? If your number is 5 or less you would need to start making changes to your eating habits.
The same applies to exercising. How often do you exercise? What exercises do you do? Which one haven't you done for a long time?
4) Friends/ Family
Family life is not always what its cracked up to be. Fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters do not always get on. There is always who causes trouble of some sort. Honestly, this is part of life. As soon as more than one different personality clashes and that can cause upset. It happens in all families but there are some points to think about.
1) Don't take it too heart when you have an argument with your loved ones because it may be the other person who got up with the wrong foot in the morning. He or she is just letting off steam. Honestly, it only takes one bad dream at night that can cause an unwanted argument in the morning or later in the day.
2) Try to understand the other person. Maybe she has a problem at work or with boyfriend/girlfriend and you are not aware of it. Sometimes listening is all that is needed.
3) Take your family member on a walk or for a coffee to your local café. Get some fun into the situation and have a laugh.
When you job has become a stalemate then it is time to talk to your manager or to move on. On a scale from 1 to 10 how motivated are you to get up in the morning and go to work?
How well you do in your job depends vey much on your motivation. If your answer is 5 or below you need to ask yourself the big WHY am I not motivated. I suggest that you take at half an hour to become clear as to what the REAL reason is that makes you thinking of leaving your job. You may not have any career prospects. You may be bullied or undermined by a colleague. You may not have received a promotion in god knows how many years.
This is one important aspect of your life, or at least so it should be. In order to be in balance with yourself and the world around you, you would need to be able to switch off from daily life and do what you love. Do what makes your heart sing! This can be a long forgotten hobby you may want to take up again. Maybe you would love to learn a new language, learn DIY or write a book or poems. The world is your oyster. You can make your life happier and more interesting with a hobby you can forget the world around you.
When you open up to spiritual practices such as meditation, mindfulness, and visualization your mind becomes more calm and peaceful. By being open to those practices your inner world becomes a lot happier and you are less stressed. Your outer world becomes less scary.
On a scale of 1 to 10 how spiritual are you? What practises do you already implement into your daily life and which ones do you want to try out. How often can you practice spirituality during the week?
